The knife that I received is exactly 8 inches long, not the 8 1/2 claimed in the description so I'm giving only 4 stars for that inaccuracy. I'm no expert but it appears that the Damascus is real though it doesn't appear to extend through the tang. It has a full tang and comes reasonably sharp. This knife has a pretty good heft and is maybe even a little too heavy for my tastes.The Rams horn handle is real horn and has a wavy surface in that where the handle is dark indicates the bottom of a shallow wave which I find pleasing to the hand.This knife would make a serviceable neck knife even though it is a little heavy and has a very striking appearance.
