The set was packaged well, imo. Individual pieces were either bubble wrapped or boxed up and arrived in perfect condition. One beaker and measuring cylinder are plastic. I suppose that will be okay as long as they don't come into contact with caustic substances. (I confess some ignorance here. I haven't done a great deal of science experiments. Not for lack of want, but rather, no opportunity previously) The test tubes, flask and beaker are made of glass. It's not terribly thick, nor is it as thin and flimsy either. I cannot attest to the accuracy of the measurements listed on these items, as I have not tested that yet. The bunsen burner setup has to be assembled, and is not difficult to do. There is a screen mesh that rests upon a cast iron ring, which has 3 stainless steel legs you screw into. It is mildly wobbly since getting them just right probably won't happen. It's not going anywhere, but annoying to a perfectionist. IMO, this is a good, basic lab set for my daughter, who is 11 years old. It has more components than a chemical lab kit, and thus you would be able to do more. You do need to get your own chemicals, which is fine, since it is plainly stated that this is just a lab set.My two cents, for what it's worth. :-)Good first time Chemistry Lab Set. It is small, but that is a plus for small hands. My daughter is six years old and I wanted to introduce her to the world of science. She is naturally curious so I figured this was something we could do together. We could spend quality time together, have fun and learn at the same time! The MtDew can is for size/scale comparison. My 13 year old like this .I am a teacher at a small private school. I am teaching HS Chemistry; am gathering tools and equipment from a variety of sources, and for as low a price as possible. The products are good quality and have enabled the students to do my labs in teams. Thanks! It's a good starter kit it came fast but two test tubes were broke I just sent a email and they replaced them fast I'll be buying some extra stuff for it becuse it is just a starter kit good to teach kids about chemistry that's why I bought it the price should be lower becuse it's a cheap little starter kitIt brings the basics, better than the kids starter kits, it keep in mind it is very basic and not of the best quality. It is good for an older kid in school as a starter kit.Bought this for the 8 year old but we haven't had time to use it much. I think it is a little too advanced for her age.Amazing and fun set for my 12 year-old son, always has such a great time when using it! Basic but good for the price. Education, and fun!
